For us, avid lovers of the sea, the use of human powered watercraft serves to intimately connect us with the Sea we are so desperately passionate about. In the form of recreation, business, health and the environment, the world's waterways provide much to the citizens of North America. The human powered watercraft allows individuals to explore, learn, and create awarenss about the water environment of their communities.

The protection and good stewardship of these waters is paramount to, not only our current generation, but for those generations to come. We hope that such an intimate journey as that of a kayak in the seas will not only provide unique imagery and multi-media but also serve as a catalyst for bringing together people and creating a positive conversation about these waters.

As such, we have decided that our first effort will be sponsoring a Kayak Expedition along the North America Atlantic Seaboard. The expedition will begin in late January 2010 and cover the 3000 plus miles of seashore from Key West, Florida to Nova Scotia, Canada. This coastal environment is one of the most beautiful and complex waterways in all of the world. The Atlantic seaboard is home to some of the most populated areas in North America and provides a unique opportunity to engage these communities in the challenges that these waters are undergoing. Upon the return of our kayaker from this expedition, we will use imagery, multi-media libraries, written articles, speaking opportunities, and community engagement to create the awarness that is so central to this mission.

As we begin the exploration of the waterways through the One Ocean Project, we are looking for sponsors, partners, and affiliates that can help us achieve our goals. If you are at all interested in becoming part of this journey, please do not hesitate to contact us at oneoceanproject@gmail.com. Please see additional links to the right to follow our kayaker as his trip begins, donate to the mission, or find sponsorship information. The One Ocean Project looks forward to working with you to create awarness about the world's waterways.
